Joseph’s lesson rates vary depending on the type of sessions you book.   The options are as follows:

Half Hour Session

This option is ideal for young students who do not have the attention span for an hourlong session or students who do not have the financial resources to afford an hourlong lesson.  Our half-hour sessions are structured to get as much done as possible in a short amount of time.  Many of our students and parents have actually said that a half-hour session at our studio has the equivalent intensity to an hourlong session at other studios.  The first five minutes of a half-hour session are devoted to prescribing the best solution to improving the student’s playing.  In the next fifteen minutes, Joseph approaches the technique from multiple angles, to make sure the student understands all the different ways to properly execute the technique.  The final ten minutes are used to help the student apply the technique in such a way that feels natural and serves the greater purpose of helping the student express themself artistically.

One Hour Session

This is the ideal session for the student who wants to make sure they get the most out of their lessons.  Like the half-hour session, the hourlong uses the first five minutes to identify the problem, and the next fifteen to train proficiency and develop a more comprehensive understanding of how to apply the new skill.  The final forty minutes is used to get the student’s technical and expressive abilities closer to a performance level.  Exercises may be assigned to further sharpen technique, but most importantly, the students phrasing patterns and techniques will be workshopped to help them develop a playing style that is both instinctual, expressive, and unique to them.

How Many  Lessons Should You Schedule Per Week?

Our students generally range between 1-3 lessons per week.  Supervised practice with a professional always has better results than unsupervised practice, and having your teacher present also keeps bad habits from forming that sometimes can develop when you are playing on your own.  Top conservatories often have students take several classes per week to achieve best results.  In my opinion, if finances are not a problem, the more lessons you can schedule per week is always going to allow you to develop faster than you could have otherwise.  We require our students to have lessons at least once a week  to guarantee that they will have visible improvement in their skills.

In-Home Lessons

Can’t make it to the studio?  No problem!  For an additional fee Joseph can also come to your home for lessons.  Rates may vary depending on how far you need Joseph to travel.
